Overnight Oats with Berries (Print version)

Creamy oats soaked overnight with berries and almond butter, perfect for a nutritious breakfast.

# What you’ll need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
03 - 2 teaspoons chia seeds
04 - 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup or honey
05 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - Pinch of salt

→ Toppings

07 - 1 cup mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
08 - 2 tablespoons almond butter
09 - 2 tablespoons sliced almonds, optional

# Steps:

01 - In a medium bowl or jar, combine oats, almond milk, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are evenly mixed.
02 - Cover and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours, to allow the oats to soften and absorb the liquid completely.
03 - In the morning, stir the oats well. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash more almond milk to reach your desired consistency.
04 - Divide the prepared oats between two bowls or serving jars. Top each portion with half of the mixed berries, 1 tablespoon of almond butter, and sliced almonds if desired.
05 - Serve immediately, or cover and keep chilled until ready to consume.

# Cooking tips:

01 -
  • Zero cooking means you can literally make this while half-asleep and still end up with something delicious.
  • The texture is nothing like regular oatmeal—creamy and almost pudding-like, which sounds weird until you taste it.
  • You can prep these on Sunday and wake up to three days of ready-to-eat breakfasts without thinking.
02 -
  • The oats will continue absorbing liquid even after you eat them, so if you're saving leftovers, add milk again before eating to restore that creamy texture.
  • The ratio of liquid to oats is critical—I learned this the hard way by eyeballing it once and ending up with oat cement that no amount of milk could rescue.
03 -
  • If you forget and leave overnight oats in the fridge past three days, the oats start tasting stale no matter how fresh everything else is, so set a little phone reminder if meal prep isn't your strong suit.
  • Using a jar instead of a bowl means you can grab it and eat it on the go, which transforms this from a sit-down breakfast into something portable that works for actual busy mornings.
